What if someone you loved became something else? #WolfManMovie
From Blumhouse and visionary writer-director Leigh Whannell, the creators of the chilling modern monster tale The Invisible Man, comes a terrifying new lupine nightmare: Wolf Man.
Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, It Comes at Night) stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Emmy winner Julia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Hullraisers, Coma).
But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.
The film co-stars Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ben Prendergast (The Sojourn Audio Drama) and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man).
Wolf Man is directed by Whannell, whose previous films with Blumhouse include The Invisible Man, Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3. The screenplay is written by Leigh Whannell & Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo (Dumb Money).
The film is produced by Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum and is executive produced by Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Leigh Whannell. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

See, I like the idea of this movie. Being trapped in a house while someone you love is slowly becoming a werewolf. I like the idea of the transformation being slow and gradual, shown primarily through the WOLF'S point of view of how they're changing, losing control and their sense of self, feeling like they're a prisoner in their own body while it lashes out in ways they can't change. But it also feels like the movie didn't really have anything BUT that idea. So once it's played out, there's really nothing else to latch on to.
It's a great idea. But an idea isn't enough to carry an entire movie's runtime.

Ginger Snaps is the way better version of this idea.

It could serve as a cool metaphor for aging, illness, dementia, depression, or addiction slowly turning a loved one into someone unrecognizable.

right. it's a pseudo intellectual movie for people who don't like horror.

I could not get over the lack of guns in that house...in central oregon??? Please!!! There would be so many guns

Looool great point. I assume the dad's gun was with him when he got bit, but he'd have more than one for sure

the son had a gun, so there should be at least one more in the house.
But I buy that the husband doesn't think about it at the time and his wife doesn't know about it

Their characters and their relationships were so underdeveloped. I wish they explored Julia Garner’s resentment and lack of connection with her daughter. Once the arm chewing went down, she should have quarantined herself and her daughter away from him. He sees this as a threat. The daughter learns to trust in her care after maybe trying to get back to the father. We end with the mother telling WolfDaddy that “I’ll always protect her” before having to kill him. The end.

That alone would have gone a long way to better develop things.

I thought Julia Garner was supposed to be his teen daughter when I first watched the trailer, she looks way younger than him.

She looks like she's in her 30's. IRL 8yrs apart isn't a huge age gap. Its not 18yo and 25/26yo

She doesn't. She looks she is in her early 20s at the oldest

I get this was a smaller budget movie, and the themes are a nice departure from typical werewolf movies, but that design. Woof.
I know the 2010 Wolf Man movie isn't everyone's cup of tea, but at least the design was actually a wolf man.

Well, then again, he doesn't look the best, considering he's a new wolf. Blake's dad had more wolfman look mainly cause he's been infected for so long so he's gonna have more things grown

Even the design for Blake's dad is kinda terrible. More ratty than wolf. I get they wanted to do something different, but I don't know, the design wasn't a good choice.

Solid 6.5/10 the plot was kinda slow but the body horror really saved it, but this could’ve been like another commenter said a wendigo movie. The message was clear and you kind of knew things were going downhill fast. Plot holes, redundant scenes (running back and forth between the house and x several times), ultimately just a hairy sick man. Still think Dog Soldiers and underworld steal the werewolf genre

Do I wish we got another kill or two? Sure, but I really enjoyed this movie. I like this take on its more of a sickness than just being a cool wolf. I also appreciate a different design, it’s different and aligns with how the movie treats the disease. I’d imagine he would get more hairy with time. His father looked harrier than him. But I also appreciate how it makes them move, as well. They can movie quicker practically like we can because the design where as the wolfman(2010) design is sick AF and looks like the original wolf man on steroids, but they were noticeably stiff in the suits which is why they did nothing but jump and throw each other when they fought. This new wolfman design is getting hate but overall I love we didn’t get a werewolf we got a wolf man, and every design is gonna have pro’s and con’s. I always thought the design of the child that turned the dad in wolfman 2010 was interesting and this reminds me of that. We also got into his perspective a lot which was very cool. Did the dad kill the hiker wolfman? How did the hiker get it? There’s a lot more to see here and I hope we get a follow up movie!

I found the movie really good . I was pleased with the fact it wasn't visually dark like so many are now , to the point you can't see anything. And they managed to turn the creatures without tons of makeup or cgi. The story line even managed to bring surprises in it like the return of his father. So I applaud them for bringing out a new story that held up. And personally I found Nosferatu dull and boring and too visually dark. So many times you couldn't see anything .

Can we just get a traditional wolf man movie where it’s actually a supernatural curse and not a disease. Jesus they have been doing this crap since the early 2000’s and it’s not fun at all anymore. I just want a good wolfman curse werewolf movie. Can we get that please? This one looked like a disease ridden hobo

absolutely man, supernatural is just much better especially if someone does it right. Even tho 2010 wolfman wasn’t great, I’d still prefer that over this movie

Exactly! Thank you. These snobby directors want to constantly avoid the supernatural which they think makes them seem "edgy" or avant guard. I prefer the supernatural in my horror.
